THINKING DAY PREP

(2nd Grade Brownies)


I. Arrival (Kaper Chart Helper = Kendall)

As the girls arrive, the helper sets the sit-upons up in a circle.


II. Opening (Helper = Blakely)

Sit in the Brownie circle and recite the Girl Scout Promise, sing some songs.


III. Business (Helper = Mrs. Beamer)

Cookie Booth at Walgreens on 1/24


IV. Activity 1 (Helper = Mrs. Prucha & Saige)

Write letters to our Pen pals


V. Snack (Helper = Mrs. Fallon and Sydney)


VI. Activity 2 (Helper = Mrs. Fallon and Mrs. Beamer)

Discuss our Thinking Day country, Panama (Mrs. Beamer will bring talking globe and flag chart)

Plan out our display board (Mrs. Beamer will bring last year’s as example)

Plan out our SWAPS (Mrs. Fallon will bring samples, Tina will bring last year’s)

Cookie Sales update and discuss our plans for the money we earn* – Mrs. Beamer

Pen pal letter update, if applicable – Mrs. Prucha

2/21 Thinking Day logistics – Who will bring what? 

All girls will bring a baggie of pennies to donate to the Juliette Low World Foundation Fund

Saige will bring passport stamp and ink pads

Sydney will bring display board, display items, 220 SWAPS, dress

Kendall will bring plantain chips again and a bowl?


IV. Activity (Helper = Sydney)

Make our Panama SWAPs (we need 225 of them)

Make our Panama display board

Have a drawing for who will be in the flag ceremony with Sydney

IV. Activity (Helper = Kendall)

Hobbies Try-it activities:

1. We will review and discuss pages 36-37 of the Try It Book.

2.  Each girl will share her hobby with us all and show us what she brought.

3.  We will work on scheduling time for our hobbies into our schedules.

4.  I will distribute the shells and fossils to each girl (free donations to our troop!)

Location:  Ina Edstrom’s House - 2313 Via Cordova Ct.

(2nd Grade Brownies)




I. Arrival (Helper = Kendall)

As the girls arrive to the house, the helper sets will get the supplies out and set up on the table.


II. Opening (Helper = Claudia)

While in a circle, recite the Girl Scout Promise, sing preferred song to kick off the meeting.


III. Business (Helper = Mrs. Prucha)

Distribute pen pal letters – Mrs. Prucha

Review future meetings and events - Mrs. Beamer


IV. Activity (Helper = Sarah)

Science In Action Try-it (pages 126 – 129) activities:

1.  Weird Glop

2.  Balloon Blowing

3.  Light and Color

4.  Candle Experiment

5.  Coke explosion

9/10/08 Meeting Agenda

Did ANIMALS Try-It

Then we went on field trip to Griffith Vet Clinic

(2nd Grade Brownies)


I. Arrival (Kaper Chart Helper = Sarah)

1. As the girls arrive, they may make a nametag and a kaper chart name plate on an index card (first name only) and set the sit-upons up in a circle.



II. Opening (Helper = Blakely)

1.Sit in the Brownie ring and have everyone introduce themselves (name, teacher, favorite things).

2.Discuss the Kaper Chart and how meetings run.  Review the Girl Scout Sign, Girl Scout Handshake, and the Quiet Sign.

3.Recite the Girl Scout Promise and discuss the Girl Scout Law (give handouts).

Girl Scout Promise:

On my honor, I will try:

To serve God and my country

To help people at all times,

And to live by the Girl Scout Law.


Girl Scout Law:

I will do my best to be:

Honest and fair

Friendly and helpful,

Considerate and caring,

1.Today we will begin earning the “Animals” Try-It.  Everyone may share photos and stories of their pets.

2.  Discuss next events and meetings, assign next kapers/snacks.

Mrs. Parkinson brought the snack this week.



V. Activity (Helper = Kendall)

1. Do 3 activities for the Animals Try-it (Try-it book pages 86-87 and Handbook pages 97-98)

a.  Discuss caring for pets and take the Pet Pledge

b.  Pet Quiz

c.  Sounds Charades game (names in paper sack)



VI. Closing (Helper = Morgan)

1. Explain that a Girl Scout always leaves a place cleaner than it was. So everyone

should pitch in to help clean up.

2.  Give Sydney, Ina, and Claudia their new vests and/or patches.

3. End in a friendship circle, sing another song, and do the Friendship Squeeze.

ART TO WEAR Try It

(2nd Grade Brownies)


I. Arrival (Kaper Chart Helper = Ina)

As the girls arrive, they sign the Griffith Vet thank you note and set the sit-upons up in a circle.


II. Opening (Helper = Kyra)

Sit in the Brownie ring recite the Girl Scout Promise.


III. Business (Helper = Mr. Beamer)

Discuss plans for this meeting (Art To Wear Try-it) and next meeting (Ready, Set, Go Camping Try-it).


IV. Activity (Helper = Claudia)

1. Do these 4 activities to earn the Art To Wear Try-it:

a.  Each make tie dye t-shirts with rubber bands and purple dye.

b.  Each make a bead bracelet.

c.  Do Face Painting activity.

d.  Each get camping bandanas and learn different ways to wear them.


V. Snack (Helper = Blakely)

We will be doing the Fun Trail Mix Snack today, each girl brought an ingredient to add.

Blakely provide the beverages.


VI. Closing (Helper = Sydney)

1. Clean up.

READY, SET GO CAMPING Try-It

(2nd Grade Brownies)


I. Arrival (Kaper Chart Helper = Kendall)

As the girls arrive, the helper sets the sit-upons up in a circle.


II. Opening (Helper = Blakely)

1.  Sit in the Brownie ring, hand out tie-dye shirts from last meeting, let girls put them on.

2.  Hand out the bandanas and try fun ways to wear them!  This completes the requirements for the Art To Wear Try it (p. 18).


III. Business (Helper = Mrs. Beamer)

Discuss all the details and rules of the Nov. 7 camping weekend….


IV. Activity (Helper = Morgan)

1. Do these activities to earn the Ready, Set Go Camping Try-it (p. 124-125):

a.  Play camping bingo to learn all the camping necessities and terminology.

b.  Do the Roll-a-bag relay and discuss packing.

c.  Do the Bandana Tricks  and Knots activity.

d.  Discuss hiking and weather tips, and give each girl their belt-loop ring with water bottle, flashlight, and poncho.


V. Snack (Helper = Kyra)

Kyra is providing snack and beverages.


VI. Closing (Helper = Sarah)

1. Put the 3 new Try-it Leaves on the Try-it Tree (Animals, Art To Wear, and Ready, Set, Go Camping) and review the 5 branches of the tree.

2. End in a friendship circle, sing a song, and do the Friendship Squeeze.

b.  What do they call Brownies in other countries?

c.  Discuss the Pen Pal activity – add to info forms.

d.  Play Chinese Jump Rope


IV. Snack (Helper = Ina)

Ina is providing snack and beverages.  Read/learn about Girl Scouts from other Countries while eating snacks.


V. Business (Helper = Mrs. Stewart, Kyra’s Mom)

Cookie Sales Introduction – Goals, expectations, timing etc.


VI. Closing (Helper = Mrs. Beamer & Sarah)

1. Put the new Try-it Leaves on the Try-it Tree

WRITE AWAY Try-It

(3rd Grade Brownies)


I. Arrival (Kaper Chart Helper = Kyra)

As the girls arrive, the helper directs the girls place their backpacks etc on the side table and go to the restroom/wash hands before returning to the conference table.


II. Opening (Helper = Sydney)

Refresher on Kaper chart duties, our troop Try-it Tree, and Brownie basics such as Girl Scout Promise and Girl Scout Law.


III. Snack (Helper = Sarah)

Sarah will distribute the snack and beverages at this first meeting.


IV. Business (Helper = Mrs. Beamer)

We will all review the plans for our troop this year and set goals/discuss finances.


V. Activity (Helper = Saige)

1. Start the Write Away Tr-it (p 54-55 in our Try It Book)

a.  Pair up to be a “Reporter”

b.  Chose interviewees from the hat

c.  Discuss all future activites we will do for the Write Away try it


VI. Closing (Helper = Claudia)

11/4/09 Meeting Agenda

CAMPOUT PREP Meeting

(3rd Grade Brownies)


1.  Eat lunch.


2.  Make "Camp in a Bag" SWAPS (each girl will make 11).  Tamara and I are bringing all the materials. Here is a photo of the completed SWAP.




3.  Practice our "Fall" group song called "I Won't Grow Up" from Peter Pan.  I will have my iPod and speaker for us to listen to the song and then practice learning it.

 

4.  Girls vote on and practice our individual troop song that we will perform at campfire.

 

5.  Review Packing List and other camp info.

 

6.  Anne- Marie will hand out our new Troop T-shirts.  Moms, please pay Anne-Marie for your adult shirt if you ordered one.  Girls’ shirts are paid for out of the troop account.

 

7.  Tamara will hand out camping bag name label Iron-on sheets.  These name labels may be ironed onto your daughter's duffel bag to distinguish hers from others at the campout.
